The Dandeli wildlife sanctuary is connected to Mahaveer Sanctuary in Goa.

This sanctuary is over an area of 834.16 sq km.

The rivers which give this place a unique look are Kali,Kaneri and Nagajhari.

It is 67 sq km in area.The renowned ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali was instrumental in according Ranganathittu the status of bird sanctuary.

The climate here is equable with temperatures ranging from 23 degrees to 29 degree Celsius. Though the region experiences heavy rainfall in the months of monsoon specially in June .
