Belur is renowned for its Chennakesava Temple complex. The maximum number of temples in Belur and Halebid wereconstructed during the reign of the fifth king of the Hoysala dynasty, Bittadeva, who was later rechristened as Vishnuvardhana in the Belur Tour Karnataka.
